The Knowledge in Action Career Internship Fund, KACIF, was created to help off-set the cost of necessarily unpaid internships – i.e., typically with non-profit, governmental, educational, and non-governmental organizations that genuinely lack the financial resources to pay salaries or wages to their interns. In 2016, and in collaboration with the Student Association, KACIF Travel was created as an additional option to reimburse students for the public transportation expenses related to necessarily unpaid internships.
In light of the current situation with the COVID-19 pandemic, and the understanding that more students are engaging in remote/virtual Internships throughout this summer, we are expanding the KACIF Travel grant to include expenses related to remote internships (internet access, equipment needed, etc.).
