Biomedical Engineering (B.S., M.S., Ph.D.)

Biomedical Engineers apply knowledge of engineering, biology, and biomechanical principles to the design, development, and evaluation of biological and health systems products. Biomedical engineers may work with artificial organs, prostheses, instrumentation, medical information systems, and health management/care delivery systems. Biomedical engineers work in manufacturing, universities, hospitals, company research facilities, educational and medical institutions, teaching, and government regulatory agencies. They often serve a coordinating function, using their background in both engineering and medicine. In industry, biomedical engineers may create projects where an in-depth understanding of living systems and technology is essential. They frequently work in research and development or in quality assurance.
