Description:
Plans, coordinates, performs product design, testing and/or analysis work for a complete project of moderate scope or for a significant portion or a sub-system of a major and diverse project.
Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews.
May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work to support personnel.
Decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors.
Duties:
Executes high level applications to more complex problems.
Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for complex problems or projects of moderate scope.
Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications.
This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
Provides technical support to marketing, manufacturing, quality and supply management organizations.
Develops and/or executes test or analysis plan for product verification and validation.
Applies knowledge of company products, policies and practices to provide economies through standardization of parts and products.
Job Description:
This position is for a test engineer to support the verification of parts and systems used on cotton harvesting equipment. Some, but not all of the key tasks will include:
Using data acquisition equipment to measure hydraulic and air system flows, pressures, and temperatures throughout the machine, in addition to gathering vehicle CAN bus communication
Design, development, execution, analysis, and reporting on various lab and field tests.
Report test results in Vision (internal test management tool) in a timely and clear manner; helping in the definition and execution of any follow up testing.
Required Skills and Experience:
1-2 years experience with data acquisition and test data analysis
Strong technical report writing skills
A strong knowledge of engineering theory and principles
Possess a working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, mechanical and powertrain systems
Demonstrated ability to work with other engineering disciplines to understand and conduct testing on complex systems
Ability to process and summarize large amounts of data in a timely matter, delivering concise conclusions to help drive resolution of test plan activities.
Experience in working in a team environment and soliciting cooperation when needed.
4-year B.S. degree in engineering or technology.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Experience with the design, development and/or test of mobile equipment, preferably agricultural harvesting equipment.
Knowledge of the safe operation and maintenance of agricultural equipment.
Working knowledge of eDAQ or similar data acquisition tools.
Knowledge of data collection methods and analysis with nCode
3-5 years practical experience in the design, development, or testing of electronically controlled engines, powertrains and hydraulic systems.
Knowledge of structural test and analysis, including the use of stress testing or accelerated lab testing methods to evaluate the life of structural members.
A working knowledge of CAN bus communication
A working knowledge of the Vision test management too
