We are working on a project in Blender 2.92 to recreate an art performance that originally debuted in 2019 at Performance Space New York. The new piece will be an animated version featuring 3d scans of the two artists, performing the piece this time in a virtual setting. It is planned to showcase at an International Biennale in November.
We are seeking an intern to join our team this summer as we complete this project. We are at a point where most of our modeling and rigging is complete and we will begin to animate and edit the storyboard.
It’s an exciting opportunity to see a video piece come together and team members will garner experience in digital design, art direction, and animation, as well as the process of making a short film.
The internship role will support this stage but can bring a variety of skills to the table where we are very open to exchange ideas and collectively learn together. We would love to work with someone who has animation skills working in Blender. There is potential to explore diverse aspects, such as motion capture and/ or VR capabilities.
We are not looking for expertise, but someone who is eager to push themselves as much as fulfill objectives. There is a lot of methodical work, and due to the large cast (that includes an array of animals!) there is plenty of task directed work if someone is not feeling comfortable to take on more, so don’t be shy! As with any animation it will take focus and dedication to bring together the many pieces.
