The Association for Community Affiliated Plans (ACAP) is seeking a fall intern to provide support on projects related to Medicaid managed care, Medicare, and the health insurance Marketplaces. The position requires excellent verbal, computer, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Successful candidates must be self-motivated and able to work independently.
ACAP is a national trade association representing 78 not-for-profit Safety Net Health Plans, serving more than 20 million individuals, including one-third of Medicaid enrollees in Medicaid-focused health plans. Our mission is to support our member plans’ efforts to improve the health and well-being of people with low incomes and with significant health care needs.
The intern will be responsible for supporting the policy staff on a variety of tasks, which may include short-term research projects, database entry, PowerPoint creation, and document editing. Depending on the intern’s background and interests, there may be an opportunity for the intern to analyze quality and operational data on ACAP health plans. The internship may also entail communications and Web design support. The intern will learn important computer, administrative, and analytic skills as well as be exposed to a dynamic and growing health policy organization.
To be eligible for the internship, an applicant must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have an interest in health policy. The intern will work approximately 10-15 hours a week.
The position will pay $16.00 per hour. The intern will be working in-person at the ACAP office in Washington, D.C. The internship would begin in September and continue into December.
