Genesis Technical Staffing is seeking a motivated college student to participate in our undergraduate internship program supporting our project controls department. Intern will have an opportunity to work with multiple Project Managers crossing a number of industries including renewable fuels, renewable power, pulp & paper, chemicals and more. Under the general supervision of a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), the internship will involve cost engineering, planning, and scheduling of various phases of design and/or construction projects.
Skills & Abilities:
Current Undergraduate Student, preferably majoring in engineering, construction management, business/finance/accounting, or computer engineering.
Organization is key to being a successful Project Manager. The candidate must possess strong organizational skills, and have the ability to function in a fast pace work environment. In addition, an Intern must be able to take initiative, provide quality work with a sense of urgency.
Communication skills – The candidate must have the ability to communicate with both the technical and business sides of operations. Participants will be involved in presenting to senior management as well as clients.
Ability to wear multiple hats – day to day duties will vary based on the client’s requests
Strong Microsoft Office Suite Skills
– Technical skills not required but a plus:
– Exposure to Oracle Primavera P6
– Office Macro Coding
– VB, SQL, SQLite
– Database Design & Management
– Scripting Languages
– Power BI
Must be a junior or senior actively seeking their Project Controls engineering, construction management, business/finance / accounting, or computer engineering
Must have a minimum of a 3.0 GPA.
Must be able to provide two professional references. (academic references are accepted)
Capable of working up to 20 hours a week during the fall semester.
Self-starter, Team player.
Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and presentation skills.
Customer service skills would be an asset.
Ability to react promptly and efficiently to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
Capable of conducting research for project-related issues and products.
Capability and willingness to learn, understand and apply new technologies.
