The Main Responsibilities
As a Software Engineer in our Strategic Planning and Transformation organization, the Intern will work as part of a system engineering team to drive business integration designs and development in a face-paced Scaled Agile environment. Team members utilize SOA and include principals of overall architecture, design, processes, functionality, and technical components which include middleware integration and orchestration components. The ideal intern will have a high level of engagement and take initiative, with extensive use of Java, Kafka and Restful resources that produce both xml/json.
- Attend daily Stand-up Scrum meetings
- Contribute to all software development phases from concept and design to testing.
- Participate in feature grooming
- Write user stories for ticketing migration features and ServiceNow features
- Design and coding programs
- Documentation changes
- Code enhancements
- Assist with internal and external API creation/enhancement
What We Look For in a Candidate
• Education Requirements
o Rising senior or master’s level in pursuit of degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or similar technical field, graduating August 2022 – May 2023.
• Proficiency and understanding of;
o Ability to understand Business requirements and relate them to Design & Implementation from requirements.
o Software Development processes
o Design and Programming skills using a variety of technologies including Java, SpringBoot (Java) Cassandra
o Excellent unit/functional testing skills
• Professional Attributes
o Strong drive for results and taking initiative
o Ability to be resourceful and adaptable
o Ability to collaborate and have agility while making effective decisions
o Strong written and verbal communication skills
o Ability to interact with business partners and drive the conversation.
o Flexible and adapts well to change
• Work Setting
o Ideally the position will be in one of the following offices: Broomfield -CO, Littleton-CO or Monroe -LA. May consider remote/ work from home.
o Intern must be able to work 30-40 hours be week during the 10-week program (June – August)
o Intern must have reliable transportation to/from work location (Lumen does not provide transportation to/from Lumen office locations)
o US work authorization
