The purpose of the civil engineering internship position is to provide professional development experience for a college student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. The intern will be exposed to a variety of projects and activities within the utility business, will have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in college, and will be able to demonstrate abilities in the work place. The position is temporary, nonexempt, part-time/hourly. Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Job Functions)Duties include assisting with transmission line engineering projects and studies, performing design and project management requiring basic engineering skills, and reading and interpreting construction documents and drawings.Duties also include additional work as assigned under the direction of qualified engineering staff.Performance Expectations (Key Success Factors)Perform responsibilities as directed within determined time frames and with a high degree of accuracy. Qualifications QualificationsCollege student currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering. Software skills to be used in performing the work, including conducting detailed structural analysis and assisting others to achieve goals. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and documents. Effective project management skills.                                                                       Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Effective analytical and problem-solving skills.Prior utility or energy industry experience helpful.Employees must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without an accommodation.All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability or veteran status.
