(NYSE: ESE), started making pioneering, high-quality products for the wind industry in the early 1980s. As climate challenges became more numerous and complex, we expanded our offerings to include smart technologies for a range of wind, solar, and meteorological applications. Today, through this diversification strategy, NRG is positioned for growth and success. If you join our company, you will be part of a dedicated, passionate team who believes the work we are doing is important to solving global climate change issues.  As our global business grows, the complexity of our product offering demands the skills of an experienced mechanical engineer to bring leadership and a results-oriented mindset to our strong and capable engineering team. The work environment is fast-paced and the team is highly collaborative, not only within the mechanical discipline but across the engineering department and the company in general. We are looking for an engineer who has demonstrated in their career an aptitude for seeing a project through to the end, able to handle complexity and change, and brings a knowledgeable, can-do voice open to exploring different approaches.  Specifically, this role will serve as a lead engineer for a variety of complex mechanical design projects for our sensor and microprocessor-based electronics systems, covering the range of concept development, requirements definition and validation, analysis, detailed design, verification, optimization for lean manufacturing, and ongoing support.  This position reports to the Director of Product Development and works in partnership with the engineering team to achieve goals of the department that are in line with the company strategic plan.  PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES ·        Provides leadership and direction on projects including electro-mechanical assemblies and sensors for outdoor applications·        Develops requirements specifications and mechanical architecture designs·        Provides technical supervision and direction to staff as necessary to complete assignments·        Reviews project documents for conformity to standards, processes, and quality·        Responsible for mechanical systems integration·        Leads mechanical design reviews·        Writes engineering qualification and verification test plans and oversees testing as needed·        Serves as a lead engineer on investigations of mechanical design problems·        Develops new methods, tools, and processes for product development and testing·        Leads continuous improvement teams to refine our engineering tools and processes·        Remains current with market trends and functional requirements for our products·        Contributes significantly to product idea innovation·        Optimizes cost for both mature and new products by working with internal departments, vendors, and customers·        Communicates with customers and suppliers on specified project tasks·        Conducts clear, high quality presentations to internal and external groups·        Mentors mechanical engineers and designersQUALIFICATIONS ·        Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree and a minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible engineering work experience·        Expert in design for assembly, design for manufacturing, and design for reliability·        Expert in solid modeling CAD tools (preferably SolidWorks) with knowledge of GD&T ·        Proficient with mechanical measurement methods and engineering statistics·        Experience in finite element analysis and modeling with experience with COMSOL a plus·        Proficient with design of experiments, development of test procedures and equipment, and analysis of test data·        Experience designing and creating prototypes using machine shop tools such as lathe and mill·        Experience designing injection molded, machined, and sheet metal parts·        Experience with acoustic applications, preferably ultrasonic·        Experience designing to requirements and releasing commercial products to market·        Independent and self-directed·        Able to quickly and accurately estimate time to complete tasks for a project·        Comfortable with hands-on work·        Able to work effectively in teams·        Demonstrated skill in working with customers·        Technical zeal  WORK CONDITIONS  ·        Work performed in a climate controlled office environment·        Primarily duties performed in a seated or standing position·        Occasional work performed in climate controlled warehouse environment·        Occasional field work·        Must comply with health and safety requirements·        Occasional travel to visit customers, represent NRG at tradeshow events, or perform field work
