The U.S. Combat Capabilities Development Command, Chemical Biological Center (DEVCOM CBC) is offering a bachelor’s-level internship at the Rock Island, Illinois, facility.
The Design Engineering and Test Facility (DE&TF) intern opportunity at DEVCOM CBC is for talented undergraduate students to prepare and motivate participants toward a full range of technical and professional positions in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
What will I be doing?
As a participant you will have the opportunity to explore a federal career and gain a competitive edge as you apply your education, talent, and skills in a variety of settings. Under the guidance of a mentor, you will gain hands-on experience preparing samples, taking measurements, running test equipment, and collecting data for ongoing DE&TF testing efforts, assessment of laboratory equipment, and exposure to CAD modeling.

What is the anticipated start date?
Start/end date and hours per week are negotiable.
Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and internship will be filled as a qualified candidate is identified. Exact start date will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. The intent of this opportunity is to participate full-time during the summer and then part-time during school year. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.
What are the benefits?
You will receive a stipend to be determined by DEVCOM CBC. Stipends are typically based on a participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

Nature of Appointment
You will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DoD, or any other office or agency. Instead, you will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.

While participants will not enter into an employment relationship with DoD or any other agency, this opportunity will require a suitability investigation/background investigation. Any offer made is considered tentative pending favorable outcome of the investigation.
Candidates should have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
Experience with CAD, specifically SolidWorks, is desired, but not required.
