Join our team of dedicated OPEN EDvantage tutors and play a pivotal role in helping middle school and high school students achieve their educational aspirations. At OPEN EDvantage, we are committed to empowering students in these crucial years to excel academically by providing them with the tools and support they need to succeed. If you are passionate about education, possess exceptional tutoring skills, and are eager to make a positive impact on student’s lives, we invite you to join us in this rewarding endeavor.

Responsibilities

  • Tutor high school students in math (ability to also tutor science is a plus)
  • Teach time management and study strategies
  • Break down challenging material into clear, manageable lessons
  • Support students in preparing for assessments and building academic confidence

Requirements

  • 1–2 years of tutoring, teaching, or mentoring experience (formal or informal)
  • Commitment of 5–8 hours per week, typically between 2–9 pm on weekdays (weekend availability a plus)
  • Ability to commit for the full school year, September through early June
  • Proficiency with Zoom and online teaching tools
  • California residents preferred

Key Skills

  • Subject mastery in high school math (Algebra I & II, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Statistics) and science
  • Strong teaching ability with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to motivate and support students of varying skill levels
  • Organizational skills to help students manage assignments, projects, and deadlines

Interview Process:

Our selection process includes the following stages:

  • Application: Answer screening questions and completel references via Google Form
  • Interview 1: Skills and experience screening
  • Interview 2: Simulated tutoring session(s) with our team and/or panel
  • Background Check: Final candidates must pass a background check
