GENERAL SUMMARY The Design Engineer 1 works on design projects that require new silicon created from either original component manufacturer (OCM) or end-customer databases. This position works hand in hand with the Product Engineering position with many tasks involving other groups (test, packaging, quality, production control, etc.).  ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS·        Ensures that solid silicon design methodology and best silicon design practices are employed.·        Practices clear communications with fellow engineers including documenting the work performed, schedule estimations, and challenges for any project.·        Willingness to take feedback for improvement in those solutions whether that feedback comes from management, customers, peers.·        Participates in team meetings to discuss work performed and outlines challenges for any project.·        Works with customer to complete the business with clean execution of the design tasks.  PREPARATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES·        Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering required (BSEE, BSCS, or BSCE).·        At least 0 to 2 years of custom silicon design experience.·        Must be a team player and have very good interpersonal skills. Ability to define what is necessary to get a semiconductor design to fab and through manufacturing.·        Works with job specific software. May require coding and learning tool/ software specific languages.·        Exhibits confidence in proposed solutions and willingness to take feedback for improvement in those solutions whether that feedback comes from management, customers, or peers.                                                                                                                       WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS   Social/Environmental Requirements:  Extreme attention to detail required. Sensory RequirementsClose work (paperwork, visual examination)Color vision/perception – essential looking at chip layout and simulations on a screenVisual Monotony and Visual Clarity <3 feet (screen work)          Must be able to have high-quality and technical conversations in person and over the telephone with both internal and external customers. Physical RequirementsMedium physical work; seldom exerting force/lifting/carrying items of up to 50 lbs.Seldom walking, standing, twisting, or bendingHeavy keyboard and computer useSeldom Reaching above shoulder/below shoulderJob requires occasional mental endurance with up to 5-6 hours without a break
