Job Title:  Technology Support SpecialistDepartment:  Information TechnologyReports to:  Director of Information TechnologyFLSA Status:  ExemptEmployment Status:  Full-Time Since our founding in 1901, the Toledo Museum of Art has earned a global reputation for the quality of our collection, our innovative and extensive education programs, and our architecturally significant campus. And thanks to the benevolence of its founders, as well as the continued support of its members, TMA remains a privately endowed, non-profit institution and opens its collection to the public, free of charge. SUMMARYProvides information technology support for all Museum staff and systems. Works collaboratively with Information Technology staff on network, hardware, and software issues and requests.  KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESInstalls, configures, and maintains network infrastructure, video surveillance, access control, security systems, and associated equipment and cabling.Provides first level end-user support for computers, software, POS terminals and peripherals.Installs and configures computers, software, POS terminals and peripherals.Provides AV and technical support for lectures, galleries, openings, internal and external events.Investigates user problems and identifies their source; determines possible solutions; tests and implements solutions.Works collaboratively with Information Technology staff on issue resolution and escalating problems as needed.Maintains system security and mitigates security vulnerabilities by patching and keeping system operating systems/application/antivirus software up to date and patched.Manages the Museum’s inventory of computer hardware and software by maintaining an accurate inventory of hardware and software, tracking laptops on loan, and preparing computer hardware equipment for disposal (donation/recycle).Deploys cash registers as needed for events and programs.Patch and upgrade operating system and application software to reduce security vulnerabilitiesMaintains confidentiality about the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the end-users on the networkAnswers support calls and provide event support after hours and on weekends when needed.Works in cross functional teams with other departmentsStays current on technological trends and issues.Performs other duties as assigned or required.  EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s degree in in computer/information technology and 2 years’ relevant work experience preferred or associate degree in computer/information technology and 3-5 years’ relevant work experience requiredA+ and Network+ certifications requiredExperience with video surveillance, access control, and network cable runs and terminationsExperience in customer service or customer facing related work SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES, AND ABILITIESStrong communication and interpersonal skills with ability to build rapport with Museum staff and guestsAbility to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends on rare occasionsMust maintain current A+ and Network+ certifications PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTPosition requires extensive physical mobility – must be able to move about museum during entire shift. Must be able to communicate verbally both person-to-person, electronically and by radio and visually observe activities. Position requires ability operate a variety of technologies, including computers, cameras, monitors, kiosks, projectors; The person in this position frequently communicates with public membership and staff who have inquiries and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
