Insights into your Role:
The Cloud Platform BU is responsible for VCDR team is responsible for the VMware Cloud Disaster Recover product. The ASUP team is part of VCDR team and is The Cloud Platform organization is responsible for Core Virtualization products such as vSphere, Workstation, Fusion, and other Solutions for Enterprise Virtualization. The Graphics team is part of Cloud Platform Organization and is responsible for providing 3D Graphics Acceleration and support for Mouse and Keyboard for VMs running on ESXi, Workstation and Fusion. The team develops Virtual Machine Graphics drivers, Paravirtualized 3D Device called SVGA Device and Backend Graphics Renderers. The virtual Machine graphics drivers involve developing Windows and Linux device drivers, while the backend renderers use Metal, OpenGL, Direct3D and Vulkan for API translation to perform 3D acceleration. The VMware graphics stack is what enables Application or Games running in Virtual Machines on ESXi, Workstation and Fusion to use GPU acceleration for 2D and 3D Graphics operations.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking Intern Software Engineers who loves solving complex problems to join our team in Palo Alto, California. As an ASUP Developer in the VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery (VCDR) Product team, you will be responsible for creating software to monitor and manage worldwide installations of VMware Cloud Disaster Recovery Product. Our teams work in managing and monitoring cloud services will challenge your skills in various software paradigm like distributed design and computing, building scalable systems, data analysis and algorithms.
Intern Performance Objectives:
• Design, develop and optimize the backend infrastructure for supporting VCDR installations in various public cloud like AWS, Azure and GCP.
• Create and integrate with various monitoring systems and dashboards to represent the worldview from a VCDR product perspective.
• Ensure the robustness of infrastructure. Investigate, debug and fix any problems found in the ASUP infrastructure.
• Create and dnhance existing tools to aid with automated testing of the infrastructure.
Required Skills:
- BS or MS in Computer Science, MS is highly preferred
- Should be highly proficient in a variety of programming language like C and Python
- Strong programming, debugging and problem-solving skills
- Coursework in the following topics: Algorithms, Data Structures, Operating Systems, Computer Architecture, Distributed Systems
Preferred skills:
- Previous internship or working experience is a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Strong teamwork mentality and ability to work cross functionally
