Department & Position Summary
The Product, Safety & Compliance (PSC) department is in charge of administering and launching Field Service Actions (FSA) in the United States and Canada, which includes safety recalls. In addition to FSA, PSC is responsible for government reporting, safety compliance, New Car Assessment Programs, and Environmental Regulatory Compliance.
The Product, Safety & Compliance Intern will gain a vast knowledge of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) inner workings in regards to safety recall administration and material return. This Intern will be responsible for overseeing a program to eliminate the risk of used/recalled driver’s side steering wheel airbags from making their way back into vehicles in operation as reclaimed used automotive parts. This is a unique situation for Volvo, due to the fact that NHTSA will require Volvo to recover, track and properly destroy recalled airbags from a wide variety of locations. Volvo has never had to recover recalled parts in past recalls, as this program will require.
- Create/Develop documentation for tracking recalled airbags
- Data analysis of recovered information – Serial number tracking/reporting
- Provide support for data-driven solutions such as program design, data aggregation and data analysis.
- Perform Data comparison/correlations of registered vehicles based on monthly customer registrations
- Participation and collaboration in Recall working group/meetings
- Maintain data updates on progress/performance tracking

In order to be considered for this program, you need to be currently enrolled in a related Undergraduate degree program as a rising, Junior, Senior or anticipate graduating within the calendar year. Program is set to begin early June 2021.
