Both the Co-Op and Intern positions with Turner span a whole host of fun and unique assignments. Depending on needs and availability of projects/departments in different geographical areas, you will be placed on any of the following assignments: an active construction project in one of our many specialties, a department located in a main office working in preconstruction/estimating, business development, or assigned to one of our divisions such as Special Projects or Self Perform Operations. In all of our Co-Op/Internship opportunities, you will be exposed to real work and an opportunity to step in and help immediately.
Position Description: Reports to a Project Engineer, Superintendent or Department Leader. Engineering role will involve assisting in obtaining, coordinating and distributing the information and authorizations required to construct the project on time, within budget and to the quality specified. Field role requires maintaining daily contact with subcontractor’s representatives, forepersons and other Turner Staff responsible for the protection and promotion of Turner Construction Company interests.

Responsibilities for Construction Engineering:
- Obtain information and approvals for processing of shop drawings and submittals
- Distribute information required for construction to appropriate parties
- Assist in the preparation of contract items
- May perform other duties as assigned

- Monitor field variations and keep the Project Superintendent informed of any changes
- Ensure that sub-contractors understand job schedules and make every effort to meet them
- Ensure contractor compliance with Turner’s safety program and all applicable safety codes and regulations
- Perform other duties as necessary
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities for Preconstruction/Estimating:
- Assist in the preparation of complete quantity take-offs and studies for all items incorporated in the project using either traditional or computer-aided programs, discussing details necessary to complete the project with the assigned estimator
- Prepare correspondence at the direction of the assigned estimator to Architects, Engineers, Vendors and Subcontractors in connection with performing their assigned trades
- Request and distribute subcontractor proposals relative to their scope of work to assemble proposals for any delivery system

- Student at a college or University offering degree programs
- An intense interest and passion for the Construction Industry and a desire to work in a team environment.
- Demonstrate leadership and Interpersonal skills.

Physical Demands:
Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly work on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud. Employees must occasionally lift or move up to 75 pounds.
